MIAMI, FL – May 1, 2026 – We are proud to announce that Bast Amron is celebrating 17 years of service to our clients and the legal community. What began as a boutique firm rooted in business litigation and insolvency has grown into a nationally recognized practice known for delivering sophisticated results in the most complex matters across jurisdictions and industries.
Year 17 has been one of our most defining yet. In a milestone that reflects where we are headed as a firm, we welcomed our first-ever Chief Operating Officer, Allison Koonin, a step covered by Law360 and one that signals our commitment to building an infrastructure as strong as our legal practice. Founding Partner Jeffrey P. Bast put it plainly: the appointment is about ensuring the firm will not only survive, but thrive and grow for years to come.
This was also a year of sustained recognition from the industry’s most respected platforms. Bast Amron was nationally ranked by Chambers and Partners USA in Bankruptcy Litigation and Bankruptcy/Restructuring, with Brett Amron, Jeffrey Bast, Scott Brown, and Dana Quick individually recognized, a distinction widely regarded as the gold standard in legal rankings, earned through independent research and in-depth peer and client interviews. Brett Amron was also named to Lawdragon’s 2026 list of 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know, a distinction earned through rigorous peer vetting and journalistic review. Both Brett Amron and Jeffrey Bast were named to Lawdragon’s 2026 list of 500 Leading Global Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers. Five Bast Amron attorneys were recognized in the 2026 Legal 500 Miami City Elite rankings. The firm was also ranked nationally and regionally in the 2026 edition of U.S. News Best Lawyers Best Law Firms, and Brett Amron received the 2025 Miami-Dade Bar Circle of Excellence Award in the Business Litigation category.
On the client front, our attorneys delivered results across a wide range of complex matters. We secured a favorable settlement in a confidential agricultural industry breach of contract dispute. Our team representing the VPX Liquidating Trust continued to press high-stakes breach of fiduciary duty claims against the former CEO of Bang Energy, with the matter receiving repeated coverage by Law360. In another matter that also drew Law360 attention, our team represented corporate executives in a dispute where opposing counsel was sanctioned for relying on fabricated AI-generated case law, a result that underscored our commitment to procedural rigor and client protection. Across industries and jurisdictions, our attorneys continued to handle the kinds of complex, high-consequence matters that have defined this firm since day one.
Beyond the accolades, our team remained active at the forefront of legal education, thought leadership, and community engagement. Our attorneys presented at national CLE programs on Chapter 11 restructuring, D&O indemnity claims, and automatic stay litigation. In April 2026, we hosted our 8th Annual Business Advantage Forum, bringing together business and legal leaders for a full day of programming centered on the theme of Navigating the Next: Leadership and Innovation in a Transforming World. The Practice Podcast reached new heights this year, surpassing 10,000 downloads, a milestone that reflects the growing audience that tunes in each week for honest, experience-driven conversations about the practice of law. This year’s standout Legend Series featured some of the most accomplished names in the legal profession: Aaron Podhurst, whose six-decade trial career speaks for itself, and Kendall Coffey, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and one of South Florida’s most respected trial lawyers. Our team also continued its longstanding commitment to Cycle for Survival, the national movement to fund rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since 2015, Team Bast Amron has collectively raised over $124,974 for this vital cause, a reflection of the values that have guided this firm from the very beginning. Founding Partner Jeffrey Bast was also appointed to the Board of Directors of Miami Waterkeeper, further underscoring the firm’s deep roots in and commitment to the South Florida community.
Seventeen years in, our mission remains unchanged: to deliver strategic legal counsel with integrity, creativity, and precision. We are honored to serve as trusted advisors through every phase of litigation, restructuring, and business decision-making, and we are grateful to the clients, colleagues, and community members who have made this journey possible.
Thank you for being part of our story. We look forward to what year 18 will bring.
