MIAMI, FL- September 15, 2022- Bast Amron is proud to announce Jaime Leggett has been appointed as the Co-Chair of the Florida Bar Business Law Section UCC Article 12 Secured Digital Assets Task Force. A joint committee task force has been established for reviewing, commenting on, and potentially proposing new legislation for creditors to lien and register their security interests on cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other blockchain systems representing stores of monetary value. The new task force, UCC Article 12 – Secured Transactions for Digital Assets, is a combined effort with the Blockchain & Digital Assets Committee and the UCC/Bankruptcy Committee of the Business Law Section. In July, the Uniform Laws Committee proposed adding a new UCC Article 12 to the model Uniform Commercial Code. The principle revisions to Florida Law effect Fla. Stat. 679.1011, Secured Transactions (generally similar to UCC Article 9).
