DANA QUICK MENTIONED IN COURTHOUSE BEACON NEWS: CHIEF JUDGE’S CORNER: FIRST OF MANY

DANA QUICK MENTIONED IN COURTHOUSE BEACON NEWS: CHIEF JUDGE’S CORNER: FIRST OF MANY

January 12, 2024 by Maylynn

January 12th, 2024 - Posted in Dana R. Quick, In The News

MIAMI, FL– January 12, 2024- Dana Quick was mentioned in the newsletter by Courthouse Beacon News “Chief Judge’s Corner: First of Many.”

The Court’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee shortly will publish on the Court’s website the initial findings from the committee’s survey relating to bias and prejudice concerns, conducted online this past spring. The results are sobering. A substantial portion of those responding said that they personally experienced bias or prejudice based on gender or sex, and a slightly smaller but still significant percentage said they experienced bias or prejudice based on race or ethnicity. At the recent Florida Bar View from the Bankruptcy Bench in Miami, committee members Monique Hayes and Dana Quick presented a PowerPoint that included several direct quotes from survey responses.

“To put it bluntly, conference attendees were shocked at what they heard. I extend my thanks to Ms. Hayes and Ms. Quick for taking the time to present this important data. I encourage you to look at the survey summary, which includes a number of such quotes.” Said, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.
