MIAMI, FL – September 16, 2025 – Bast Amron Associate Attorney Kyle Forges authored an article titled “Associates Can Earn Credibility By Investing In Relationships,” published by Law 360.
“As the class of 2025 prepares to join law firms this fall, they must adapt from the rigorous exploits of law school classrooms – filled with the pressure of cold calls – to the quiet office dynamics that will mark the trajectory of their legal careers.
No longer will they be surrounded by 60 of their peers in a lecture hall. Now they must work in a new environment, where dynamics may not be the same as university.
While much has been written about billable hours and technical skills, the quieter lessons of relationship-building often go unspoken. Yet these soft skills may matter just as much as legal acumen for long-term success.
I’ve worked on both sides of the legal world: first as a public defender in one of the busiest criminal courts in the country, and now in private practice as a commercial and bankruptcy litigator. In both roles, I learned the same truth: Your legal skills matter, but your interpersonal judgment matters more. The people you work with, and how you work with them, will shape the trajectory of your career.”
